The United Association of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders and Service Techs held their 39th General Convention in San Diego, CA on August 1st-5th.

During the UA General Convention on August 3rd, 2016 UA Veterans in Piping Training Specialist Mike Hazard presented a testimony from former members of the armed forces and graduates of the UA VIP program whom are now members of the United Association. This testimony can be viewed

below.

Mike Hazard stated “General President Hite set out to do the “right thing for members of our armed forces”, and in so doing, our union went far beyond what any organization, union or non-union has done for our veterans. Beyond anyone’s highest expectations. We were the inspiration and the spearhead for a new Department of Defense skills training program and total revision of the DOD Transition Program. We are recognized within the armed forces as the “gold- standard” of critical skills training.”

Following the testimony Mike Hazard introduced a special guest, Command Sergeant Major Clinton Reiss. CSM Reiss has held every leadership position from a section sergeant to command sergeant major and regimental command sergeant major. He has earned numerous awards and decorations, including a Bronze Star Medal with “V” device and a Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters. CSM Reiss has been closely involved with the VIP program at Ft. Carson.

CSM Reiss shared his perspective of the UA VIP program and stated “It is evident by the establishment of the Veterans in Piping program and the 125 years of commitment to building this nation, that you appreciate the service that our soldiers, airmen and marines have given to our nation...Thank you very much."
