Angel Zapata has prior welding experience and is excited to grow his knowledge in the trade. “After I graduate and officially leave the military, I hope to begin an apprenticeship with a UA Local in Austin, Texas,” Zapata said. Army Spc. John Hatcher was interested in joining after his friend who completed the program told him about all the benefits UA VIP offers.   “I look forward to having a secured job and the right skills by the end of the program,” Hatcher said. “I hope to continue to advance my welding skills and become a journeyman one day.”  The UA VIP program offers 118 days of accelerated training in welding, HVACR or fire suppression at the following military installations:  - [Camp Pendleton](https://www.uavip.org/camp-pendleton-vip-opportunities) (welding) - [Joint Base Lewis-McChord](https://www.uavip.org/apply) (welding and HVACR) - [Fort Carson](https://www.uavip.org/fort-carson-vip-opportunities) (welding) - [Fort Cavazos](https://www.uavip.org/fort-cavazos-vip-opportunities) (welding) - [Camp Lejeune](https://www.uavip.org/camp-lejeune-vip-opportunities) (welding) - [Fort Campbell](https://www.uavip.org/fort-campbell-vip-opportunities) (welding and fire suppression) - [Naval Station Norfolk](https://www.uavip.org/norfolk-vip-opportunities) (HVACR)  ## Additional UA VIP info  Since it was founded in 2008, the UA VIP program has helped thousands of transitioning active-duty service members start rewarding civilian careers through the UA. The UA VIP program recognizes the sacrifice, dedication and skills military members bring to the piping industry and wants to equip them with the resources necessary to succeed.  After Class 29 students graduate from the program and transition out of the military, they will join a DOL-registered apprenticeship program and go to work for a UA signatory contractor. While working as apprentices, VIP graduates will earn a livable wage, along with full-family healthcare and retirement benefits. As apprentice's knowledge of the trade grows, they will earn regular wage increases.  To learn more about the benefits students gain through the program, visit the [UA VIP website](https://www.uavip.org/) today.  [Accelerated Welding Training](https://www.uavip.org/news-happenings/topic/accelerated-welding-training)  |   [DoD SkillBridge](https://www.uavip.org/news-happenings/topic/dod-skillbridge)  |   [UA VIP Program](https://www.uavip.org/news-happenings/topic/ua-vip-program)  |   [Fort Cavazos](https://www.uavip.org/news-happenings/topic/fort-cavazos) ##### Comments ## faq FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS We’re sure you have lots of questions about the VIP Program.
