JBLM HVAC-R Class 27 students prepare for careers after graduation

The Joint Base Lewis-McChord HVAC-R Class 27 students graduated from the United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) program in early September. 

Soon, these graduates will start their new civilian careers as HVAC-R technicians. 

The UA VIP program was designed to help active military members who are in their last six months of service begin a new career through DOD Skillbridge training in the pipe trades.

The UA VIP program offers accelerated training in Welding, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVACR) and Fire Suppression. 

Taught by experienced UA journeymen, VIP HVACR students will learn to install and maintain heating, cooling and refrigeration systems in residential, commercial and industrial areas. 

Class 27 graduates received certifications in HVAC refrigeration, UA 51 brazing, OSHA and more during their training.

Begin a career in the pipe trades today 

Graduates receive numerous benefits from the UA VIP program. From extensive training to guaranteed job placement through a DOL-registered apprenticeship program, the UA VIP program sets its students up for success.

After graduating, there are many opportunities for career progression for UA members. 

After completing the 5-year apprenticeship program, UA VIP graduates will become certified journeymen. Journeymen can continue to grow in their trade and become foremen, instructors, superintendents, project managers and more.
