Joint Base Lewis-McChord HVACR Class 32 begins UA VIP program

The United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) program welcomed another class of transitioning active-duty service members who are interested in training for a future civilian career in the pipe trades. 

On March 25, Joint Base-Lewis McChord HVACR Class 32 began 118 days of accelerated training.

HVACR instructor Dave Gibson will teach Class 32 students through classroom instruction and hands-on training. 

Army Staff Sgt. Brandon Marshall has prior HVACR experience and is eager to grow his knowledge as a Class 32 member. 

“I wanted to join the VIP program because I knew it was a good career field,” Marshall said. “When I graduate, I want to start a good job and earn high wages.” 

Army Sgt. 1st Class Enrique Nidoy has no prior experience in the trade, but after learning about the great career opportunities the UA VIP program offers, he knew it was the best program for him. 

“My goals are to learn as much as I can to be ready to start working once I retire from the Army,” Nidoy said. 

The UA VIP program offers 118 days of accelerated training in welding, HVACR or fire suppression at the following military installations:

Start your apprenticeship a step ahead 

UA VIP graduates are guaranteed a job with a UA signatory contractor, allowing them to start their apprenticeships seamlessly upon leaving the military. 

The program also provides participants with the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, such as OSHA safety, which they can carry with them into their apprenticeships. 

UA VIP’s comprehensive preparation allows UA VIP graduates to enter their apprenticeships more experienced and confident than their peers, setting them up for long-term success.
