Fourteen members of the United Association Veterans in Piping Program (UA VIP) Fort Hood Welding Class 10 graduated from the free career-training program on Feb. 15.

The United Association Veterans in Piping Program, which equips military service members who are preparing to leave the service with sought-after skills that can lead to lifelong careers in the in-demand pipe trades, is a free 18-week accelerated training program. Opened to members of the armed forces who are preparing to leave the military, UA VIP guarantees those individuals a good-paying job with good benefits upon both transition out of the armed forces and successful completion of the program.

“The VIP graduates of Fort Hood Welding Class 10 have proven through their hard work and dedication over the past 18 weeks that they are ready to make an immediate impact with their newly developed skills in their new careers as UA apprentices, and we wish them the best of luck,” said UA VIP Administrator Mike Hazard.

One of the country’s top career skills programs for transitioning military service members, the UA VIP Program helps alleviate the stress faced by those in the armed forces, who oftentimes have trouble finding employment when they return to civilian life. By guaranteeing UA VIP graduates employment upon completion of the program, members can focus on taking care of themselves and their family instead of worrying about finding a job.

Skills and certifications earned by UA VIP participants are in high-demand, as there is an increasing need for skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen in the piping industry.

Transitioning service members can apply for this 18-week career skillsprogram that includes classroom and hands-on instruction, which is provided free of cost at select military bases across the country. VIP graduates earn industry-recognized certifications,direct entry into the United Association’s five-year apprenticeship program at an agreed upon local union nationwide and are guaranteed private-sector jobs with good pay and benefits through a UA signatory contractor.
