NEWS AND HAPPENINGS WITH VIP

Take a look at some of the newsworthy items for the VIP program.

UA VIP Joint Base Lewis-McChord welding and HVACR classes begin

Class started for students in Welding Class 25 and HVACR Class 24 at Joint Base Lewis-
McChord.

As part of the United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) program, students will either learn
to weld or repair, maintain and install heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration
systems alongside experienced journeymen.

During the accelerated 18-week courses, they will learn everything they need to know to begin
construction careers in the pipe trades.

Students will earn industry-recognized certifications, and gain direct entry into solid private-
sector jobs with good pay and benefits. They will learn specialty skills that give them a leg up on
their peers.

The UA VIP program is an Army Career Skills Program (CSP) for transitioning active-duty
service members. Students learn basic skill sets to begin good paying careers in industries with
strong job demand.

UA VIP promises good pay and a guaranteed job after the military

Upon graduating and leaving the military, students enter a UA Local Union at an agreed upon
location. There, they will begin a UA registered apprenticeship program, earning good pay,
quality healthcare and 401K benefits for their retirement. Pay increases as they progress
through the program.

Students are chosen for the program through an interview process. Learn more about UA VIP
classes at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord here.

Similar opportunities are happening at select military bases across the country. Learn more
