UA VIP Welding Class 20 at Fort Carson celebrates graduation

Members of the United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) Welding Class 20 at Fort Carson are thrilled to be graduating, setting the stage to soon start exciting careers welding in the construction industry.

The UA VIP program is an Army Career Skills Program (CSP) program for transitioning active-duty service members.

The class of seven graduates have chosen a UA union at an agreed upon location to begin registered apprenticeships and learn to become journeyman welders.

Some have chosen Dallas, Phoenix or Baltimore. There are literally hundreds of choices available throughout the country. Many graduates choose to return to their hometowns to be closer to family and friends.

The graduates enjoy a smooth transition to civilian life after transitioning out of the military.

The grads are placed with a UA union with guaranteed job placement. They start earning good wages and retirement benefits, and are quickly eligible for quality healthcare for themselves and their family. They will earn while they learn with progressive wage increases as they gain additional skills.

Guaranteed job placement, great pay and benefits

The United Association Veterans in Piping program was designed to address a growing shortage of workers in the construction industry. Program leaders realized that members of the military had both the discipline and the get-go to succeed in this industry. It’s a world that values everything you learned in the military and teaches you how to apply it to civilian life.

Through the free, accelerated 18-week courses, UA VIP participants earn industry-recognized certifications and gain direct entry into solid private-sector jobs with good pay and benefits. They undergo a combination of lab training and classroom instruction to learn everything they need to know to begin their careers. They’re taught specialty skills that give them a leg up on their peers.

The program is available to military members preparing to leave the armed forces. It is taught at select bases throughout the country.
