NEWS AND HAPPENINGS WITH VIP

Take a look at some of the newsworthy items for the VIP program.

From Army Sergeant to skilled apprentice, thanks to UA VIP

After serving with dedication in the U.S. military, transitioning to civilian life can be daunting for many service members. For former Army Sgt. Aaron Williams, the UA VIP Program provided the perfect bridge to a rewarding career in the pipe trades.

The transition from military to civilian life wasn't easy, but Williams credits the UA VIP program for smoothing the path.

Williams joined Fort Campbell Fire Suppression Class 12 before he transitioned out of the military in 2024.

The UA VIP Program stood out to him, thanks to Instructor Curtis Amos, who highlighted the program's benefits.

"Curtis made it sound like the best possible route for me, and I still agree with it," Williams said.

After graduating from the UA VIP program, Williams now lives in New Jersey and is working as a first-year apprentice with UA Local 669.

The program's comprehensive training prepared Williams for the challenges of his new career. Williams said he has not encountered much that he did not learn in the UA VIP program.

"It helped me get a good jump on all the things I do at work daily," he said.

Since he began his apprenticeship, Aaron has worked on various projects, including installs, demos, and service calls.

After graduating from Fire Suppression Class 12 and transitioning out of the military, Williams began working with IFP, where he quickly applied the skills he learned during his training.

Encouraging Fellow Service Members

Williams highly recommends the UA VIP Program to other transitioning service members.

"Do it,” he said, “Don’t miss this opportunity.”

The program has not only equipped him with the skills needed for a successful career but has also provided a supportive community that values hard work and dedication.
