On March 5, Joint Base Lewis-McChord HVACR Class 31 students graduated from the United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) program, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their professional lives.

This group of dedicated service members have successfully completed their accelerated training, equipping them with the skills and certifications needed to transition into rewarding civilian careers in the pipe trades. Class 31 HVACR JBLM (1)

The UA VIP program, a DOD SkillBridge initiative, is designed to help active-duty service members transition to civilian life with minimal stress.

UA VIP graduates are guaranteed job placement with a UA signatory contractor and a spot in a DOL-registered UA apprenticeship program. This ensures they not only have a job waiting for them but also a clear path to career advancement.

Journeyman instructor Dave Gibson guided Class 31 through 118 days of hands-on training and classroom instruction. He is proud of the group’s achievements and is excited for them to begin their future UA careers.

During their time in the program, Class 31 graduates had the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, including HVAC refrigeration, UA 51 brazing and more.

These certifications not only demonstrate their technical expertise but also prepare them to meet the high standards of the HVACR industry.

As these graduates embark on their civilian careers, they carry with them the skills, knowledge and support of the UA community.

Once they transition out of the military, they will begin their apprenticeships, where they will continue to learn and grow, ultimately becoming journeymen with even greater opportunities to expand their careers.
